Ashes to Ashes

Tonight, it all died. I killed it. Four years of my life - four of the worst years of my life, that’s more like it - went up in flames.

My senior yearbook atop the ashes of my journals.

Most of them I didn’t know or care for. Some of them I outright hated because of their shitty treatment of me. I had a hard enough time trying to figure out myself and who I was/am without a bunch of shitty teenagers making my day to day life miserable.

But tonight, all those terrible children and awful teachers met their end. They will bother me no more, nor anyone else. Besides, no one needs those books cluttering their shelves nor do they need the emotional baggage that went with them. I let it all burn away tonight.

Let the past die. Kill it if you have to. That’s the only way to become who you were meant to be.
